FAA/NTSB - Crew Chiefs are now necessary and should be mandatory on tour flights thru out north america as well as pre flight emergency procedures.

Shouldn’t the pilot be charged? Just like a Captain of a ship would be if bailing out and leaving everyone to die.

I never wear the correct harness...Ronstan Snap Shackles only. One on the floor and that it. I also wear a helmet when I fly and PFDs.

So tragic. I can't begin to imagine the fear they went through. I just pray their deaths were fast so they didn't suffer. Amazing the pilot made it. My thoughts to the family of each that were lost and for the pilot. I'm sure he relives those minutes over and over asking himself how it went wrong and if he could have done anything differently. Just such a sad thing

Pisses me off these corner cutting on seat belts. Auto races have had 5 point harnesses for decades which release with a turn of 1 dial. Seconds. No excuse.

I was in a pretty bad kayaking situation years ago. Went upside down in the water and couldn't free myself. I remember having the most peaceful feeling coming over me. Not sure how, but I ended up on the shore with a separated shoulder. No idea how I got there. One thing I do know is these 4 people who died in this crash are somewhere incredible.

Was the pilot and the company prosecuted?? If not, they really should've been! I mean, first off, all the passengers should have been thoroughly instructed how to release their harnesses and then practice it at least 5-10 times before lift off, as well as how to prepare for a splash down emergency landing. Second, the pilot should have given them an order to take off their harnesses either 5-10 secs before they crashed or just after. But at the very lest, that they should be ready to press the emergency release button, which I certainly hope these harnesses had, otherwise they should all be switched out immediately!! to go along with a completely new design for that fuel lever.. like.. WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK!!! How the freaking hell can anyone design something that vital in such a absolutely stupendous beyond belief WAY!! Like seriously!??!? One pull shuts all the fuel off??!? Okay, first off, the placement is really stupid!! Second, that it doesn't have at least one and preferably two safety realises that prevents it from being pulled accidentally is completely unbelievable.. I just can't find the words to describe how much that designer should be hanged, drawn and quartered.. smh (I just assume that it didn't since this accidental pull could occur) And how come the pilot didn't just reengage the lever or just, you know.. for starters, checked to see if that was the reason for the fuel shortage to the engine??

And that the chopper don't have any alarm for when this lever is pulled or an extra reserve emergency fuel tank that kicks in so that you at least have a few minutes to land the god damn chopper safely..?? wow.. just WOW!!

Okay.. I know I'm jumping to conclusions here over a very short news clip with very few details.. and perhaps the pilot did everything he could and should not be blamed or prosecuted and perhaps this was a one in a million freak accident that the helicopter design is not to blame for. But until I get corrected here or find out more about said crash investigation details, I will stick to this perhaps then, stupid stance on the matter!

God day to you all, sorry for the rant..

There isn't anything he could have done differently. Things happen really fast in an aircraft, especially in a chopper. Just a very unfortunate accident. My heart goes out to the families of the victims.

If he expected them to be able to release themselves, he should've explained how before taking off. He should've had them physically show/prove they could free themselves before taking them up. He shouldn't have left knowing passengers were locked in place, facing drowning to death. It's very much frowned upon for crew to abandon a sinking craft with passengers still aboard. He could've at least saved one person, apart from himself.
